A fine English shipwright's or carpenter's sash fillister or plough plane, c.1900, of finely patinated beech wood and brass by Atkin and Sons, Sheffield Works, Birmingham Marked A & S, Benefactum
The British wooden sash fillister plane is a turn-of-the century plane designed for rebate / rabbet work - also called a sash filletster plane (spelled with a slight difference).
The function and design of the sash fillister plane is a cross between the wooden moving fillister plane and the wooden plough plane and is equipped with a fence, depth stop, nicker, skewed cutter and wedge - having a hardwood main body, a hardwood moving fence, and a variety of brass decorative and functional parts.
A fine example of a shipbuilding carpenter's tool - perfect for a collector of nautical or maritime items.
