A handsome English dome-topped steamer or traveler's luggage trunk, circa 1858 - 1880, featuring a toleware enameled tin body, nail-head accents, brass hardware, and original opposing black steel handles. The traditional toffee colored exterior paint in superb original condition with a faux wood finish. Opening to a deep orange interior.
The decorative brass lock fitting remains (although no longer working) marked W.B. Williamson and Sons, Patent. Inside the lid there is a maker's stamp (a compass image with W & S) while the registration mark (Rd No 67419) can be found on the outside.
