Featuring a moulded surround with a beautiful patinated gold-leaf - the wider scale frame has an outer gilded edge upon a red bole base coat - the outermost edge of the frame featuring a decorative band of natural polished cream gesso - with a raised rope design - creating a gentle contrast with the gold leaf.

The wide inner border showing a finely etched foliate design to the top, bottom and sides.

Polished painted gesso scrollwork surrounds the original period glass plate - the mirrored reflection with only minor historical foxing consistent with age.
