A vintage English cylindrical martini or cocktail shaker of fine plate silver from the Art Deco period, featuring an Igene type body of tapering form, with engine-turned removable cap and pour spout with strainer and corked cap, and angular handle, with an upper banding and beadwork base.
With impressed mark for Kirby, Beard, & Co. Paris - a famous early 20th c. French retailer of luxury items - and Patent 256156/26 - the mark for Igene style cocktail shakers.
Turn the shaker upside down and the base unscrews to reveal an inner 'vacuum' which would have held crushed ice or iced water and acted as a coolant for the cocktail inside the shaker.
Perfect for the bar. Even better for martinis.
