A fine library armchair or lounge chair of mahogany in the George III style from England, featuring a high upholstered leather back with wide comfortable upholstered leather seat and open sides, and shaped arms, on a stretcher with brass nail-head trim around the borders, resting on two turned front-facing legs with rolling porcelain caster wheels, and two swept back legs.
Also known as a captain's chair or barrel chair - the chair has a continuous, curved top rail that forms the back and arms, giving it a distinctive "horseshoe" or "barrel" shape. The front legs are equipped with casters for mobility.
