A fine French bamboo table and chairs set from the mid-20th century, featuring a large rectangular table with brass-bound bamboo top set upon a stylish bamboo stretcher base, two armchairs with brass-bound corners on the backs and scroll arms, and six side chairs also with brass-bound corners on the backs.

Attributed to Louis Sognot (1892 - 1969), the famed French designer who collaborated with the Atelier Primavera (founded in 1912 by the department store, Printemps, whose mission was to conceive and craft modern furniture and objects). A member of the UAM from 1930, he designed functional and elegant pieces using innovative materials, especially rattan. A professor at l'Ecole Boulle and l'ENSAAD, he inspired many post-war designers and contributed to the 1950s emblematic aesthetic.
