A fine Art Deco decorative vase of opalescent glass by the celebrated French artist, Pierre D'Avesn (1901-1990) .
He created a similar Art Deco vase for the studio Daum Nancy which was to become one of his signature designs.
Pierre Gire (AKA Pierre d'Avesn) was born in 1901. At 14 years old, he began working for Lalique. In 1926, he left Lalique and created his own models - his pieces were made by Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy. In 1930, Daum Freres asked him to take the artistic direction of their molded glass department in their glass-works in Croismare. In 1937, he took over the management of Verlys. From 1940, he worked on his own - his pieces were made by Cristallerie de Choisy-le-Roi (Sèvres).
Surely, the most important French designer for molded Art glass pieces along with René Lalique and Sabino.
