A Kasuga lantern of composition stone, from England, featuring a removable top lid in the shape of a pagoda, and hollowed area (for lighting) in bottom section.
Named for the stylized lanterns at the Kasuga Grand Shrine (Kasuga-taisha), a Shinto shrine in the city of Nara, in Nara Prefecture, Japan. The interior is famous for its many bronze lanterns, as well as the many stone lanterns that lead up to the shrine.
