An English rectangular box featuring an inlaid design of miscellaneous woods known to collectors as Tunbridgeware.
Exterior with a geometric pattern design of herringbone to the top and front. With diamond inlay to the escutcheon.
The hinged top opening to an interior with marbleized paper.
Produced during the nineteenth century in the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells and in Tonbridge, in the county of Kent, this is a fine example of the inlay technique for which Tunbridge ware is renowned.
